FAQs
Fentanyl Test Kit
-
Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid that can be lethal in small doses. It can be added to drugs purposefully or even accidentally through cross-contamination. Fentanyl has been found in drugs that have been sold as cocaine, heroin, meth, counterfeit prescription pills (oxycodone, Xanax, and Adderall), MDMA/ecstasy, and ketamine.
-
Fentanyl test strips are small, portable strips that check for fentanyl in recreational substances. They’re key for harm reduction, helping to lower the risk of overdoses and other problems from fentanyl.
-
Our Fentanyl Test Kit 5-pack includes 5 fentanyl test strips, 5 mini spoons for precise measurement of the substance, and 5 water pouches for diluting the substance before testing. The 1-pack includes one fentanyl test strip and one mini spoon and you are responsible for your own clean/drinkable water source.
-
Our fentanyl test strips are 99% accurate at a sensitivity of 15ng/mL. Failure to follow the user instructions may result in an inaccurate test result.
-
The water level is intentionally low, so you only need 1 scoop of your substance (compared to the 3-5 scoops required for other fentanyl test kits on the market). It also helps prevent accidentally dipping the test strip past the water limit (indicated by the red arrows), which could compromise the test results.
-
For detailed instructions, visit our 'how to' page. For pills: Crush the entire pill using a clean tool (like a credit card or a nail file). Add the contents to a separate container (like a clean baggie/ziploc). You need a flour or table salt consistency, so if it's still grainy, crush it more. For powder: If you have a flour or table salt consistency you’re good to go. Otherwise, crush more until you get there. Crush More = a table salt or grainy consistency.
-
Once your substance is ready (AKA it's a flour or table salt consistency), grab the water pouch, tear the top, and lightly compress the edges to hold it open.
Measure a level scoop of the substance into the mini spoon. Warning: using too much or too little product will not yield accurate results.
Add 1 scoop of your substance into the water pouch. Use the mini spoon to stir well for 15 seconds.
Hold the water pouch open and upright. Do NOT let it go until after testing is over.
Dip the strip into the water pouch, up to the red arrows, for 15 seconds. Do NOT let go of the strip. Do NOT dip the strip past the water limit.
Place the strip on a dry and flat surface. Result window facing up. Wait 3 minutes. Important: Do NOT read the test results before 3 minutes or after 10 minutes or results will not be accurate.
For detailed instructions, visit our 'how to' page.
-
Once your substance is ready (AKA it's a flour or table salt consistency), find a water bottle cap and fill it with 5 mL clean/drinkable water (1 cap = 5mL).
Use the mini spoon to add 5 scoops to the bottle cap and stir for 15 seconds.
Dip the test strip into the water in the bottle cap up to the red arrows for 15 seconds.
-
We recommend using a clean, dry tool like a credit card, a nail file, or a metal spoon. Some people break up their pills folded into wax paper or within a clean baggie/Ziploc to prevent contamination of their substance or other surfaces.
-
The illicit drug supply is unpredictable—one part of your stash might be fine, while another could contain a lethal dose of fentanyl. This is called the "chocolate chip cookie effect": your drugs are the cookie, and fentanyl is scattered throughout like chocolate chips. You might test one spot and get a negative result, but another spot could still be deadly. Even if you stick with the same dealer, each batch can vary. The safest approach is to test every time.
-
After waiting 3 minutes, read the results.
One Red Line on Top: POSITIVE. Fentanyl detected.
Two Red Lines: NEGATIVE. Fentanyl not detected. If you see a second line after three minutes, no matter how faint, it is still a negative result.
No Red Lines or One Red Line on the Bottom: INVALID. Restart test from the beginning.
After 10 minutes the test strip is invalid and should be thrown away.
-
If your test is invalid, indicated by no red lines or one red line at the bottom, restart test from the beginning and make sure to carefully follow the user instructions.
-
If you can see a second red line on the bottom with your eyes, even a faint one, the line is there. This is a negative result for fentanyl at a concentration of 15 ng/mL from your substance + water mixture.
-
If you get a positive result, first and foremost dispose of your substance and do not consume it.
-
You can dispose of your used strips by throwing them away in the trash.
-
Store at 4-30 degrees C° (39-86 degrees F°) sealed. Keep away from direct sunlight.
-
Overdrive fentanyl test strips are currently available on Overdrivedefense.com and Amazon.
-
Yes, our test strips have a shelf life and expire 2 years from their manufacture date when stored properly in the original pouch. This can vary between different batches so check the expiration date printed on your product's packaging to ensure accuracy and do not use after the expiration date.
Drink Spike Test Kit
-
Each Drink Spike Test Kit contains 1 GHB, Ketamine and Roofie 3-in-1 Test Card, 1 Dropper, and 1 Water Tube used to dilute your drink for testing. We sell these in 2 test packs as well as single test pouches, depending on where you purchase it.
-
Overdrive's Drink Spike Test Kits are the first line of defense against the following common drink spiking drugs: Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (commonly referred to as "GHB"), Ketamine and Flunitrazepam (commonly referred to as Rohypnol or "Roofie"). These drugs can cause symptoms ranging from drowsiness to anesthetic like effects. By detecting these drugs, this kit helps to mitigate the risk of getting your drink spiked and prevent possible sexual assault. Our test offers you peace of mind by ensuring that you’re informed and prepared and you know what battlefield you're stepping into.
-
Overdrive Drink Spike test results are ready in 5 minutes and are 99% accurate if used in accordance with our instructions.

-
Yes. Overdrive Drink Spike Tests are used to test drinks for the presence of GHB, Ketamine and Rohypnol. They do not assess the presence of other possible adulterants or drink spiking chemicals. Do not place the drink sample directly into the cassette; it must be diluted with the water tube before testing. Failure to do so will compromise the accuracy of the results. Negative results can be obtained when a drug is present but below the cut-off level of the test. Dark condensed juice (such as Grenadine) may affect the background color and performance of the tests, thus affecting the interpretation of the results. If the concentration of grenadine is less than or equal to 10%, it has no effect on the test. It is possible that technical or procedural errors, as well as other interfering substances in the beverage sample, may cause erroneous results.
-
GHB is Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate, a central nervous system depressant. It is widely known as a "date rape" drug due to its sedative and amnesic effects.
Ketamine also known as "Special K" is widely used as an anesthetic in medical settings, but can also be used to illegally spike a drink. Some signs of ketamine drink spiking include sudden drowsiness, confusion and disorientation, memory loss, dizziness, and nausea.
Rohypnol or Roofie is also widely known as a "date rape" drug because of its powerful sedative effects and its ability to cause amnesia. It is often slipped into drinks without the victim's knowledge, leading to incapacitation and memory loss.
-
For detailed instructions, visit our 'how-to' page.
1. Remove the test card from the sealed pouch and use it within 1 hour. The reaction pad next to the GHB label should be a white to off white color. If it is any other color, do not use the test and open a new one.
2. Peel open the aluminum foil on the water tube.
3. Stir your drink 3-5 times, then use the dropper to extract a sample from the liquid of your drink and squeeze 2 drops from the dropper into the water tube.
4. Close the lid and shake it from side to side 5-8 times.
5. Place the test card on a clean and flat surface. Hold the water tube vertically and transfer 3 drops of diluted beverage into each sample well, as indicated.
6. Read the results after 5 minutes. Do not interpret the result after 10 minutes. For Ketamine and Rohypnol:

-
If you get a positive test, dispose of your drink immediately. If you feel your drink may still be spiked even after testing, consider not drinking it.
-
If you suspect you've ingested a drink that's been spiked, call 911 to seek medical attention immediately.
-
Drink spiking is unfortunately a real threat. There are measures you can take to help protect yourself and your friends in social settings like dates, parties, festivals, concerts, clubs, and bars.
Watch Your Drink: Always keep an eye on your drink and never leave it unattended.
Accept Drinks Cautiously: Only accept drinks from bartenders or servers you can see preparing them. Avoid accepting drinks from strangers or people you don't trust completely.
Cover Your Drink: Use a drink cover or your hand to cover your drink when you're not actively drinking. Some companies sell products specifically designed to cover drink openings.
Open Your Own Bottles and Cans: Open your own drinks to ensure they haven’t been tampered with and avoid sharing or exchanging drinks with others.
Drink Testing Kits: Use drink test strips or kits that can detect common drugs used in drink spiking. These can be discreetly used to test your drink if you have any concerns.
Seek Help Immediately: If you or someone else shows signs of being drugged (such as sudden drowsiness, confusion, or disorientation), seek medical attention immediately. Alert venue security and staff to the situation.
Report Incidents: Report any suspected drink spiking to the authorities and venue management.

If you suspect an overdose, call 911 immediately for medical assistance. If you have naloxone (brand names include Narcan, RiVive, Kloxxado) and know how to use it, administer it along with rescue breaths. These actions can save a life while waiting for medical personnel to arrive. Learn more about responding to an opioid overdose.
-
Naloxone nasal sprays are now available over-the-counter, so we recommend checking your local pharmacy. In most areas, you can also request it at the pharmacy counter and have it dispensed to you under a statewide “standing order” that allows the pharmacist to dispense naloxone to anyone who might be at risk of overdose or might be around someone at risk. If you cannot find or afford it, check out NEXT Distro’s mail-based naloxone distribution program at https://nextdistro.org/naloxone#stateselector

“Overdose” means taking too much of a drug and it is typically accidental. Due to the 'chocolate chip cookie effect', where fentanyl is randomly scattered and can be unevenly distributed in the batch of drugs, there is no way of knowing the amount of fentanyl that could be present in your substance. Therefore, it's important to always test before using. If you are still not confident after testing, do not use the substance. It's not worth the risk.
-
Here are some safety measures you and others can practice to help prevent the possibility of an overdose. More information can be found at the National Harm Reduction Coalition.
- The easiest way to prevent overdose is to not use any substances which could cause overdose.
- Start low, go slow (use a small amount and use it slowly, waiting to see how it might affect you before using more).
- Avoid combining multiple substances, including alcohol, prescription medications, and supplements.
- Test your drugs every time before using them.
- Never use alone, but if you are alone, call the Never Use Alone Hotline at 1-877-696-1996. Make sure you are not behind a locked door.
- Make sure you have naloxone nearby and that someone you trust knows how to use it if you would need it.
- Stay hydrated and try to eat.
- Use less when you are sick or haven't used recently, as even a few days of abstinence or decreased use can lower your tolerance.
-Be careful when you are changing modes of administration (eating/drinking, snorting, smoking, injecting) as this can affect how the drug works in your body.
